Remembrance Sunday 2019
Remembrance Sunday, which falls on 10th November in 2019, is a day for the nation to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom. All Surrey Primary Leagues games will be preceded by a minute’s silence as per usual to commemorate Remembrance Sunday.
We know that lots of players are already involved in Remembrance Sunday through local parades with other organisations – Cubs/Scouts etc. If you need to request a postponement due to players involved in these activities then please complete an online postponment form, https://surreyprimaryleague.com/spl-postponement-procedures/
“Lest we forget, let us remember, they gave their tomorrow for our today.”
The league would like to make clubs and teams aware of a great initiative that allows us all in grassroots football the chance to show their respect for those that have been involved in historical conflicts and to support the fundraising that continues to help those affected.
The traditional poppy can be purchased as an adhesive option that can be worn on players and coaches kit – feedback from clubs that already take part in this initiative is that it is something that the players like to be part of and helps to further promote respect on an important day for the nation.
There are two ways to purchase the poppies – either direct through The Royal British Legion shop or via Poppies4Kits who support and pass on all profits to The RBL.
